Political Ideas of Sardar Valabhabhai Patel
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of Gandhi’s closest associates. During India’s struggle for freedom, he had organized and led several Satyagrahas. In 1947, when India achieved independence, Patel was made Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. He had the most challenging task of facing the then blossoming state of our nation with the most important of them being the 500 large states that were part of the Indian Union.
Summary of the Book
The book is an analysis of Vallabhbhai Patel as a politician and his political ideas. He was a staunch Hindu who appreciated the culture of India. He recognized that India was a hospitable home to people from different religions over the centuries. He has made major contributions to the discussions and thoughts of the Constituent Assembly. We owe it to Patel for the protection and privileges provided to the minorities in the Indian Constitution. He wanted India to flourish and improve by the days, and he was more of a doer than a thinker. He is still considered as one of the architects who helped shape the India that we know of, and live in, today.
